“I have a problem with one of my hid headlamps on a 2005 Toyota Sienna failing intermittently. It seems from my research that I'm not the only one having this problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10244459, filed 2008-10, 27,000 miles“A/c went out april 2012. Blows hot air. According to online forums this happens a lot in Sienna's - 2004 to 2006 models. We have 5 children in the vehicle and cannot take them very far even with the windows down or they could possibly get heatstroke. They are sweated wet by the time we get from point a to point b. We open all windows and the rear ones that only open 2 inches as well. …”
NHTSA complaint #10455054, filed 2012-04“The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sienna. While driving at approximately 40 MPH, the interior and exterior lighting failed when the high beam lights were activated. The lighting returned to normal when the low beams were activated. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10820269, filed 2016-01, 120,000 miles“The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the headlight interior plastic covers failed. The headlight covers exhibited a heavy, white, foggy discoloration. The dealer stated that the headlight interior covers needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The headlight interior covers were not replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10968679, filed 2017-03, 50,000 miles“The right side (passenger) headlight went out. Replacement of the light bulb (which was a whopping 190.00) did not solve the problem. Was told that it is a special type of hid light which has a headlamp control module aka ballast aka computer that could be bad. Dealer quoted $600 to fix a headlight. My other repair shop quoted $450. Really Toyota? $450-600 to fix a headlight???? Ridiculous. No one should have to pay this much to fix a headlight. Who engineered this? Beyond frustrated.”
