“The airbag light on dash flashes on and off at start of engine and continues while car is running. After researching this problem I quickly found out this is a known issue with numerous complaints. I also understand that if airbag light is flashing that airbags are not going to deploy in event of frontal impact. I feel this is safty issue and the manufacturer should recall these vehicles.”

NHTSA complaint #11364213, filed 2020-10, 125,000 miles

“My vehicle's safety restraint ( airbag) light on the dash came on and I took it to the dealer for analysis. They told me the entire restraint system would have to be rewired at a cost of $4000.00. Without it, I have no airbags. This should be a recall item, not the responsibility of the car owner.”

NHTSA complaint #10576775, filed 2014-04, 75,000 miles

“Last wednesday morning another car rear ended my Sienna at high speed at stop sign while I was waiting for my turn to proceed. I was travelling with my family. Sienna got totaled due to this. Side doors, back door, back bumper, cargo and third row seat area all got impacted due to this and everything caved inward by few inches. My entire family has been shaken to the core and me and my wife are sufferings from severe pain in back and neck since the accident. The cabin was filled will white smoke (powdery stuff), but no air bags got deployed (opened) due to the impact. …”

NHTSA complaint #11377200, filed 2020-11, 84,000 miles

“Upon starting up the vehicle the drivers side airbag indicator began blinking instesd of going out. Called dealership who said it would be $60-$115 just to look at it and he couldn't imagine what it was. After looking online and seeing the high cost of repair and the number of complaints I will be taking to an independant mechanic to get his thoughts. Vehicle has not been in an accident so I do not feel as if this is a component that should go bad. And if it does the consumer should not have to pay for repair as this is a safety component.”

NHTSA complaint #10521542, filed 2013-06, 84,400 miles

“I have a 2007 Toyota Sienna van. The srs light intermittently comes on. I took it in for general maintainance as well as to check the air bags. I got an error code of bo111 and was told it would be several hundred to fix. I chose not to have it fixed at this time as it was the passenger side. Now the light has gone off. Im not sure if in fact it is an airbag problem or electrical. I was also in an accident in 2009 which I could not even open my door and the vehicle was not driveable and the airbags did not deploy. Toyota is looking into this. …”
