“The handle on the hatch of our 2007 Toyota Sienna melted last year and only works off and on. It is very difficult to open, leaves black residue on your hand in the summer and freezes and won't work at all in the winter. Upon calling the dealership and Toyota I was told there was no recall and this must be fixed at my cost due to warranty expiration.”
NHTSA complaint #10394160, filed 2011-04, 37,000 miles“I own a 2007 Toyota Sienna mini-van. The liftgate is opened by depressing a rubber covered button. The rubber has melted to a point that it is molten. Each time you touch the latch your fingers are turned black and it is extremely difficult to remove. I live in texas and we are experiencing very high temperatures. I have read many online accounts of other people having this problem and I think Toyota should recall the affected vehicles. …”
NHTSA complaint #10420775, filed 2011-08, 27,500 miles“Back sliding doors on passenger and drivers side of my Sienna 2007, do not open or close correctly. This has been occurring since approx august of 2009. I drive school students for a living and could not do my job today because of this incident, once again. If the doors are on automatic the drivers side slider will not close. When automatic is taken off, you still can't close it without my husband doing whatever it is that he does, only for it to happen again. …”
NHTSA complaint #10322186, filed 2010-03, 42,031 miles“Power back door on 2007 Toyota Sienna limited will open with remote but it will not close with either the remote or the front dash control. I cannot use my legs so it is very difficult for me to close the power back door.”
NHTSA complaint #10213326, filed 2007-12, 9,689 miles“My incident is a recurring nightmare. Driver's side automatic door is not latching properly. While going down the road at 50mph the door, without any warning, flew open and would not close. I had to drive with my arm behind me holding the door closed until I got home. It took my husband 2 hours to finally get the door closed. This has also happened on the passenger side door. That was fixed to a tune of $3000.00. When I spoke to Toyota they apologized, and assured me that they would look into the matter. Something should be done before someone is seriously injured or killed by their product.”
