“Even the front door is locked and in drive mode you can open the door, while the car is running and the door are locked my wife almost fell when he accidentally pulled the front door opener. Its is a big safety issue and it make no sense if you can open the door inside even if its locked specially when its running. When you start the engine the door will automatically locked, what is the purpose of that if you can open the front doors without unlocking it.”

NHTSA complaint #10574957, filed 2014-03, 15,100 miles

“The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear passenger's side sliding door opened inadvertently without warning. The contact then turned off the automatic sliding door feature however, the door ajar audible sound persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11413034, filed 2021-04, 73,000 miles

“Pressed the button to open the rear passenger sliding door and it would open. When opened manually it would open only about 12 inches. Then when we were driving on the highway the door opened on its own. The door had to be manually closed and now it will not open. This is now a safety concern that in the event of a crash passengers may not be able to exit the vehicle or the door could open again while driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11609874, filed 2024-08

“Driver side back passenger door would not open or close properly. The door opened while driving on the road. It did t want to shut. It was difficult to get it shut once I stopped.”

NHTSA complaint #11735741, filed 2026-05

“The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Sienna. While driving approximately 15 MPH, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when depressed. The vehicle accelerated without warning, the steering wheel seized, and the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the rear passenger door latch detached when the contact attempted to open the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. …”
