Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The air bag warning light came on. I took it to the dealer. They said the airbag doesn't not work now and they are blaming in on a wiring issue, not an air bag issue. They want me to pay $220 to install a new spiral cable, but give me the part for free. This doesn't make sense. The Toyota tacoma trucks had the same issue and they had a recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10535208, filed 2013-08, 40,100 miles

“Takata recall Toyota has failed to provide or remedy the takata defect within a reasonable time frame. Metal fragments from inflator rupture could kill my family in the event of airbag rupture. I hold Toyota responsible for knowing about this problem and not providing any solution to date.”

NHTSA complaint #10885333, filed 2016-07, 40,000 miles

“Takata recall we received a recall for the takata air bag on the passenger side in may 2016. It is now december 2016 and it has not been fixed. We have asked our local dealership about this and they still say there are no parts.”

NHTSA complaint #10935368, filed 2016-12, 100,000 miles

“Takata recall, NHTSA #16v340 may 23, 2016. Toyota dealer says I must wait until Toyota contacts me that there is a replacement available and that may take years according to the dealer, venice Toyota, venice, fl”

NHTSA complaint #10899515, filed 2016-08, 38,000 miles

“Electrical failure the clock loses time when you turn off engine then when you start engine it will give you warning to check vsc , srs airbag is off , radio is off too. The autimatic lock is not functioning we have to lock doors manually. This is frustrating because we have a brand new car!!!”
