“Driver's air bag warning appeared, later disappeared. This has happened often over the last year. Activation of the turn signal sometimes causes this. Other times the warning light just appears by itself. A blow to the steering column sometimes causes the light to go out. This seems to be the problem address in recall NHTSA # 12v092000 but Toyota says my truck does not have a recall for this. Is my truck covered or not?”

NHTSA complaint #10547727, filed 2013-10, 125,000 miles

“I have experienced an intermittent problem with my 2005 Toyota Tacoma re: the air bag light coming on. This has happened several times, but eventually goes out. The vehicle has 49,000 miles. I have not taken it in to Toyota as the vehicle is out of warranty and I do not want to pay $ 80/hr. Trouble shooting charges.”

NHTSA complaint #10339592, filed 2010-06, 38,000 miles

“2005 Toyota Tacoma lunges or surges while holding the brake at light. If I don't hold the brake firm it could rear end vehicle in front of me. Dealer says its normal. And charged me to inspect. Airbag light came on dealer told me it was a part in the airbag and wanted 612.00 to replace stating that it may go off while driving.causing a crash .shouldn't a part this critical be covered for life of truck?”

NHTSA complaint #10335062, filed 2010-06, 89 miles

“I was pulling into a parking spot in front of a building. I was going approx. 1-3 MPH due to the lot being wet & had my foot on the brake. When I was almost to the concrete curb, the truck suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb and hit the building. I still had my foot on the brake & shifted into neutral. The engine was revving full throttle, so I turned off the engine. Before moving, I checked to make sure nothing was touching the accelerator, which was the case. The airbags didn't deploy but that was because of the angle at which I hit the building. …”

NHTSA complaint #10948844, filed 2017-02, 108,000 miles

“Srs light is on at all times when vehicle is on. There was no cause, it simply came on. It does not seem to effect the vehicle, however, I am greatly concerned that my vehicles safety features are faulty and may not protect me in the event of a vehicle accident. I have done nothing to correct the issue other than research online and communicate with other owners of the same vehicle. There are many other instances of this problem and I feel there needs to be a safety recall by Toyota.”
