Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Without any warning or other indication, as I was driving, the red seat belt light came on and would not go off even after all passengers were wearing seat belts. I took it to a shop where they were unable to pull up a code for the light and stated they could not find a reason for the light to remain on. I contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and they were unable to assist or find a reason stating that it was my problem and I would need to pay for any repairs to the component. …”

NHTSA complaint #10653677, filed 2014-11, 76,000 miles

“The pad assy steering part# 45130-04091-bo. Evidently the plastic contacts attached to the airbag assembly broke off and my horn was inoperable when another car drifted into my lane. Horn didn't work. Almost caused a severe accident. It worked sporadically for months, then another incident again when driver was texting on his phone and drifted again in traffic. I checked with Toyota service, they all know this is a problem with air bag pad assembley. I hardly use my horn, only when necessary, no driver over abuse here. I am concerned that these contact points break off in the cold weather. …”

NHTSA complaint #11153114, filed 2018-11, 222,400 miles

“This Toyota Tacoma slid downgrade on black ice and there was no airbag deployment despite an end-for-end, backwards, downhill flip initiated at 40 MPH, that caused the full weight of the vehicle to impact on the front bumper, dislocating all front bumper attachments from the front cross member of the vehicle's frame. This vehicle is at a salvage yard awaiting action by the insurance carrier... Updated 12/17/14”
