“Takata recall - error code p2437 and p2438. My truck has 76000 miles on it and is now in limp mode. It was very scary when it went there on the highway. I've seen online this problem existing on other Toyota vehicles and they have recalls, but not the Tacoma. This problem needs to be addressed. The truck won't go above 45 MPH and the trac light is on and the check engine light. It just... Happened. Look into this common problem please and address it correctly.”
NHTSA complaint #11092039, filed 2018-05, 76,000 miles“Over a week my vehicle began to start intermittently, then it finally stopped starting. I had it towed to the dealership and they told me the wire harness connection at the top of the fuel pump had burned up pins, and they needed to repair the wire harness and replace the connector. To have burned pins in a wire harness means arcing of some sort on top of my fuel tank. My children sit right above that pump in the back of the cab. Fuel vapor and electrical arcing of any kind does not mix.”
