“The entire frame and under side of the truck to include brackets, cables, fittings, and exhaust are so rusted and flaking off that I'm concerned that the truck may break apart driving down the road. I bought the truck used from lowe Toyota in warner robins, ga and had no idea that the truck was a rusted out disaster waiting for a place to happen !!”

NHTSA complaint #10734254, filed 2015-07, 96,000 miles

“Frame recall- my 2004 Tundra was recalled for the frame rusting out. Toyota deemed that a new frame was not needed and did the crc treatment which is absolute junk and only causes the frame to rust even worse. I want a new frame installed by toyata and any other rusty part- all should be replaced free of charge”

NHTSA complaint #10854943, filed 2016-04, 85,000 miles

“Frame rot and rust. The gas tank fell out from under the truck while driving down the road (city street), the brackets holding the tank completely rusted in two. This happen after the frame protect spray was applied to the truck by the dealer 2 years ago. The frame is a mess, I'm worried about driving this truck because of it but I also can't trade it in because no one wants it. I'm happy to send pictures if needed.”

NHTSA complaint #10822776, filed 2016-01, 160,000 miles

“My vehicle has major frame damage. There are large holes near the front crossmembers on both sides. I was told by Toyota that the frame had been sprayed several years earlier. However, the frame has continued to rust severely and the coating has completely flaked off. The representative I spoke to stated that was the only resolution, and that nothing can be done. My case is not the only one. Even the dealer located near me states that this is a well known issue. Several years received new or repaired frames for the same issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11321300, filed 2020-04, 180,000 miles

“2004 Toyota Tundra double cab sr5 with 54000 miles- front swaybar links breaking. I just brought my truck into the dealership for an oil change and both front sway bar links are broken. Looking on a couple of sites, this appears to be a common problem. The truck is factory original and is a personal vehicle, not used for off road travel.”
