“04 Tundra failed inspection due to excessive frame rust with holes. Toyota did a limited service campaign for which I never received a notice. I did receive the takata airbag recall notice. Called Toyota. They said they are not responsible for what happens with the mail. Nothing they can do for me. Vehicle is in great shape other than the rusted frame.”

NHTSA complaint #11203367, filed 2019-04, 171,000 miles

“I went in to Toyota garage to have my frame checked, and at one time the lift I received a letter in regards to this. The truck , it went up on the lift they verified it was bad and then told me it has expired and I still have an air bag relacement still open. How can they expire the frame when iwould think this is more dangerous if I got in an accident than a air bag which has never expired.”

NHTSA complaint #11291844, filed 2019-12, 162,000 miles

“The entire frame and under side of the truck to include brackets, cables, fittings, and exhaust are so rusted and flaking off that I'm concerned that the truck may break apart driving down the road. I bought the truck used from lowe Toyota in warner robins, ga and had no idea that the truck was a rusted out disaster waiting for a place to happen !!”

NHTSA complaint #10734254, filed 2015-07, 96,000 miles

“I had recently purchased a 2004 Tundra with knowing about the recall for frame rust. I believed Toyota had completed the recall and fixed the problem. Not long after owning the vehicle, I noticed a spot of rust bubbling through the anti corrosion coating. After further inspection, the frame is completely corroded through and cracked. This vehicle was meant to use for travel with my family in it and now it's not safe to drive at all.”

NHTSA complaint #11267619, filed 2019-10, 154,000 miles

“Frame recall- my 2004 Tundra was recalled for the frame rusting out. Toyota deemed that a new frame was not needed and did the crc treatment which is absolute junk and only causes the frame to rust even worse. I want a new frame installed by toyata and any other rusty part- all should be replaced free of charge”
