“We had the truck inspected in june 2019 after just doing new break lines which rusted, we had also just put new tires on it. Truck passed inspection june 2019. Truck developed power steering leak in july. While looking into the leak we noticed the frame rusted and the anti sway bar is completely rusted off the frame. Can not trade this in or sell it now. Mileage 124k.”

NHTSA complaint #11244651, filed 2019-08, 124,000 miles

“I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra with no body rust but the frame is rotting out from underneath the truck. This is a serious safety hazard or could have even killed someone and Toyota did not even notify me of the issue. When I did find out about this and contacted Toyota they said this is not an issue and there is no problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11013064, filed 2017-08, 110,000 miles

“Toyota Tundra 2006 rusted frame, straight to the point I have a 2006 Tundra diagnosed may 15 2018 buy the Toyota dealership with rust through on the frame and Toyota tell's me they will do nothing about it. I find that strange since Toyota replaced many many frames on 2000 to 2006 Tundra's.”

NHTSA complaint #11103543, filed 2018-06, 43,000 miles

“Anti rust coating was applied in 2016 as part of a recall- coating was not properly applied and moisture got underneath. Now, 2020, most of the coating has peeled off, revealing a 3 inch hole in my frame and a comepletley broken cross member near the gas tank. This is unacceptable to me that royota would cover up this problem like this and not replace all frames. This is not safe. My truck runs amazing, and only has 105000 miles on it. I expect something to be done!”

NHTSA complaint #11322600, filed 2020-04, 10,500 miles

“The secondary air injection pump has failed, resulting in the limp mode condition of the truck. The truck has lost climbing power and will not be able to drive more than 45 MPH. I have been told that there was a recall for the same problem in the second generation Tundra's. The Toyota dealer has given a $2200. Estimate to fix the problem. Is there, or was there ever a recall for the first generation Tundra's with this problem? And if so, is my tudra included in that recall? Thanks.”
