“I've owned the truck for a year bought on dec 2019 3rd owner. I see that mines not listed as recalled for frame rust but I'm not sure why when the gas tank looks like it going to fall off and seems only critical sections are severely rusted like the gas tank and where the rear shock absorber sits. I could only see these spots now because they are hard to spot places where the frame joins.”
NHTSA complaint #11402967, filed 2021-03, 164,298 miles“While driving in the city my power steering went out and made driving difficult. Upon taking my 2006 Tundra to the nearest dealer to get it fixed they informed me the frame had a hole in it and that the vehicle was not serviceable. It appears multiple recalls for multiple models were issued but not 2005 and 2006. This is something that Toyota should look at and extend the recall to these vehicles.”
NHTSA complaint #11271729, filed 2019-10, 131,000 miles“While changing a fuel tank strap that broke due to rust, I noticed the cross member at the front of the fuel tank is rotted right through where it meets the main frame. Truck has been undercoated. I talked to Toyota and they told me they are not fixing it at this time as there is no recall. How ever the 2005 and 2006 sequoia are part of this recall as well as the 2007 to 2009 Tundra.”
NHTSA complaint #11111765, filed 2018-07, 155,000 miles“I brought the above vehicle to superior Toyota of erie, pa this morning for the recall for excessive frame rust, same refused to give me a loaner car without me giving them a credit card, I informed the clerk that I am not renting a car from you - you are providing me a loaner for my trouble with your vehicle. I then left the dealership.”
NHTSA complaint #10598765, filed 2014-06, 81,340 miles“Anti rust coating was applied in 2016 as part of a recall- coating was not properly applied and moisture got underneath. Now, 2020, most of the coating has peeled off, revealing a 3 inch hole in my frame and a comepletley broken cross member near the gas tank. This is unacceptable to me that royota would cover up this problem like this and not replace all frames. This is not safe. My truck runs amazing, and only has 105000 miles on it. I expect something to be done!”
