“Rust is bubbling under paint on truck bed near rear t51 bed bolts where the spot welds are located. Rust appears to be coming out from underneath seam sealing in area as well. No rust is visable underneath of vehicle. A TSB on this issue was sent out for 2007-2011 model tundras this vehicle is a 2012 with same issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11118824, filed 2018-08, 65,000 miles

“The 9/8/13 accident involved a severe side impact. Both driver side doors were impacted and the center frame post required replacement. However, the side impact air bags did not deploy, which should have happened. The truck is still in the shop as of 9/25/13 because there are problems with the onboard computer recognizing the side air bags. I am concerned with the safety of the vehicle air bag system. Updated 1/6/2013”

NHTSA complaint #10545396, filed 2013-09, 21,400 miles

“The truck has paint peeling from it. There is currently a recall out for other models of Toyota with the same paint type as mine. Toyota says that the Tundra is not affected by this recall. I took the truck to Toyota they took down a report and told me to call the cooperate office to report it as well.”

NHTSA complaint #11474569, filed 2022-07

“I went in to carmax to trade in my truck, and when it was appraised they found rust on the undercarriage significant enough to to lower the value of a trade in price. In fact, carmax would have to take it to 'auction.' my truck was appraised at $19,000. Kbb estimates it between - $21,300 to $23,400.”

NHTSA complaint #11074637, filed 2018-02

“My 2012 Tundra crew cab has severe rust at the rear axle mounting plates of the bed. The rust is corroding from the underside through the bed. Toyota indicates my VIN is not part of the recall series despite the bed rust being in the exact location of a prior recall.”
