“Frame where fuel tank strap is rusting causing strap to come lose and front of fuel tank fell and hit road while traveling on route 62 hwy. Took truck back to dealership to have the issue fixed and on my way home it fell off again so I had to put a larger bolt in the rust hole just to get my fuel tank to stay on.”

NHTSA complaint #10984629, filed 2017-05, 50,000 miles

“I was driving on the highway with no other cars around and my sunroof shattered on me raining glass down on the inside of my truck. I called a local Toyota dealer and they told me that they didn't believe me and that a rock must have hit it. They offered me no help whatsoever.”

NHTSA complaint #11062244, filed 2018-01, 186,000 miles

“We bought the trunk brand new in 2008 and we have had to replace the alternator twice. Once in 2012 and now in 2017. Seems the alternator only lasts 4 years before giving out. Also, the power locks stopped working in 2013.”

NHTSA complaint #10965896, filed 2017-03, 160,000 miles

“We were out of town when 3 lights on the dash appeared. Traction , engine and vsb. No dealership in town where we were. My husband disconnected the battery and it reset. Didn't see the lights for three weeks, just came back on after sitting up all night. Dealership said $600, thank goodness I got extended warranty. When you accelerated to 30mph it would not shift out right. And vehicle would not go over 60mph.”

NHTSA complaint #10392790, filed 2011-03, 88,000 miles

“The vehicle had been sitting in the driveway overnight. When I got in to go to work in the morning several warning lights were illuminated. The slip, brake, 4x4 hi and lo, vehicle stability control, and lsd lights stayed on until I stopped and turned the vehicle off and then back on. When I restarted the vehicle the lights were out. This has happened six times in the past 12 months. Two other times the brake light was on and stayed on until I turned off the vehicle and restarted. There has never been an acceleration issue. …”
