“Even after the Volvo R10320 - WAM Upgrade recall, the backup camera is STILL unavailable at times when reversing. The recall and software update did not fix the issue. I would start the car and begin to reverse and met with Camera is temporarily unavailable . I do not know what else do to as Volvo is slow to respond or provide anytime of upgrade or timely fix. This has happened multiple times and almost five times a week.”
NHTSA complaint #11708704, filed 2026-01“I purchased my 2022 Volvo XC60 in April 2025. I had no problems with the backup camera, until I installed a new version of software, 3.7, over the air, in September. The update was described as addressing a recall, for a safety issue where the backup camera would sometimes not work. Since the recall update, I've had issues with the backup camera not working, at the same time all of the cameras, proximity warnings, and rear emergency braking do not work. Far from this software update fixing a safety concern, it appears to have created one. …”
NHTSA complaint #11695573, filed 2025-10“The back up camera frequently does not work. When you put the car in reverse, the screen where the back up view should appear will state, “Camera is Temporarily Unavailable “. The dealer replaced the camera with no improvement. This fault occurs several times per week.”
NHTSA complaint #11647452, filed 2025-03“System regularly displays Camera is temporarily unavailable when backing up, requires full reboot of head unit to resolve. Backup cameras regularly not activating upon vehicle startup. This is a daily occurrence and has not been fixed with updates (in fact, it's gotten more frequent).”
NHTSA complaint #11621440, filed 2024-10“The contact owned a 2020 Volvo XC60 II. The contact stated while reversing, the rear view camera displayed a black screen. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed, however the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle's speed independently accelerated. The contact's vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact stated that there were two additional occupants in the vehicle. The contact sustained pain in the right knee, no medical treatment was provided. The passenger, who was seated in the rear seat, sustained neck and upper back injuries. …”
