Example complaints

Visibility (wipers, defrost, mirrors): “Driving vehicle in the rain and the two windshield wipers stopped working. They are linked together by a linkage bar. Initially I stopped the rv and moved the driver side windshield wiper back onto the windshield as it had pushed over beyond the window. I turned it on and within a few minutes it did it again. I made sure everything was tight on the connections outside. I tried it again and within a few minutes the driver wiper went 270 degrees pointing down and sitting on the front of the rv and not on the window. Since they are linked the one on the passenger side also stopped working. …”

NHTSA complaint #10630252, filed 2014-09, 18,560 miles

Brakes: “Driving a w22 chassis went thru the mountains in arizona and when arriving at the camp site office and driving to the site down a hill brake pedal went to the floor. Pumped the pedal and the brake pedal came up and stopped the motorhome. When the motor engine is off and stepping on the brake pedal a motor runs and the pedal goes almost to the floor.”

NHTSA complaint #11018875, filed 2017-08, 53,000 miles

Steering: “The contact owns a 2008 Winnebago Adventurer. While driving, the steering wheel felt loose and inadvertently caused the vehicle to drift. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 06v148000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11062140, filed 2018-01, 44,000 miles

Body and structure: “Consumer states that bolts securing the steering shaft right angle drive were missing 2 nuts that secure the drive to the chassis frame on 2008 Winnebago Adventurer lt. The consumer believed that the right angle gear box was moved during installation of the coach onto the chassis because marks on the paint of the extension frame rails indicated that the missing nuts were in place at one time.”
