“Rough idle, stalls at stops, shaking. Every time vehicle is taken into Bmw of ontario for one problem it comes back with a different issue, I believe Bmw of ontario is purposely damaging items on my vehicle that isn't covered under warranty so I'll pay them out of pocket.”

NHTSA complaint #11173199, filed 2019-01, 85,000 miles

“The car engine was caught on fire in the parking lot. After driving from my house (about 3 miles), the car was parked in the mall. I went in the shopping mall for 10 minutes, and I went outside. My car was on fire. Fire department came, and he broke the hood to put out the fire.”

NHTSA complaint #10731930, filed 2015-07, 60,000 miles

“When entering the on ramp to merge onto the highway. I accelerated to merge into traffic and car vibrated violently and would not accelerate. I continued to press the accelerator but nothing happened and a message appeared on the display. Now, I'm stuck between the on ramp and the highway with a tractor trailer rapidly approaching. He barely has enough space to merge to his left and avoids rear ending me.this could have been catastrophic. I continued to press the accelerator and nothing happened. I put my hazards on and quickly read the message. It read, maximum engine output not available. …”

NHTSA complaint #10863691, filed 2016-05, 36,970 miles

“Well at the 60k mile mark the motor was blown, come too find out many cars this same model and year are having similar issues... The suspension has been changed a couple times now and the fuel pump went bad... The car burns oil Bmw says this is normal I find that very hard to believe... The motor went out while driving and actually leaving the Bmw dealership how ironic”

NHTSA complaint #11184487, filed 2019-03, 63,000 miles

“This car experiences multiple drivetrain malfunction codes, looses power at intervals when driving, leaks oil from seals which creates white smoke from both the exhaust pipes and from underneath the hood. It also has a rough idle and every so often, the check engine light comes on. Bmw should be ashamed of themselves for having these ongoing problems with their cars in this day and age.”
