“Do you really believe placing 2 plastic caps on a key solves this ignition recall? The recall is for the ignition switch! I took the car in today and this is how they addressed the issue. This was a complete waste of my time and I am no more safer now than before I went in.”

NHTSA complaint #10333887, filed 2010-05, 76,000 miles

“My wife was backing out of the drive way when she saw smoke coming off the cracks of the drivers side in the front of the vehicle. The hood was closed and had lots of black smoke gushing out of the cracks and it smelled like burning plastic. I tried starting the vehicle and to my surprise the vehicle started but most of the electronic controls were showing errors in the dash. I was able to drive it carefully to the nearest Cadillac dealer (lavery auto) in alliance, oh. When I stopped the car I was unable to take off the keys from the ignition because the security system also had an error. …”

NHTSA complaint #10432419, filed 2011-10, 87,840 miles

“For more than 2.5 years my SRX (purchased new in 2005) has experienced re-occurring/intermittent turn signal failure of both the left and right turn signals. After the turn signal fails, it will sometimes work again after a second or third attempt. Most often, however, I must resort to switching on my hazard lights to activate the turn signal. The vehicle has undergone ten unsuccessful repair attempts since february of 2008 through the dealer's service department. The dealership's service director and mechanics appear to be at a loss on how to rectify this ongoing safety issue. …”
