“Intermediate steering shaft has been a problem with the vehicle since reaching 17,669 miles. I had it replaced under warranty the first time and have paid for it to be replaced after the 3 year warranty ran out. The shaft continues to make cracking noises when turning the vehicle. This seems to be a part defect since a lot of people online have written about the same issue. I have had the shaft replaced three times and it last about a year before it starts to make a cracking noise. The power window regulator is a defect in this vehicle but it has not been recalled. …”

NHTSA complaint #10155566, filed 2006-04

“I bought a chevy Impala in the fall of 2000 . One of the special features I had was the auto dimmer in the rear view mirror . In dec. Of 2003 I noticed a 1/2 inch hole appearing on the mirror which was clear . I guess a yellow reflective coating is put on the mirror to help the dimming . I spoke with a dealership advisor from the dealership I bought the car and didn't seem concerned and said if I wanted a new mirror of this type it would cost between $200and $300 . I said no at that time . …”

NHTSA complaint #10068268, filed 2004-05

“The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that there was a problem with the blower motor on the vehicle. They thought it was initially caused by the resistor, but the problem continued to occur; however, the contact noticed that there was a problem with the blower motor. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the blower motor caused the failure to occur which prevented the engine from cooling down and the defrost to malfunction. The cruise control also failed to function normally. The VIN was not available at the time of the complaint. …”

NHTSA complaint #10358755, filed 2010-10, 76,000 miles
