“My chevy Impala began shaking when I attempt to slow down on the freeway from speeds of 55-65 miles an hour. I have replaced the tires, brakes, and balanced, aligned, rotated and the shaking has not stopped. This is very dangerous when you need to come to a quick stop because when your car shakes like it's falling apart your first instinct is to let go of the brake. I have researched this problem and have come to discover this is a common problem with Chevrolet Impala's. I can not afford to keep dumping money into a temporary solution.”

NHTSA complaint #10438831, filed 2011-12, 89,000 miles

“Driving down paved road headlights will go out sometimes they will come back on and sometimes they won't. I also have reported my speedometer showing 80 or 90 MPH when I am driving at normal speeds and 40 or 50 MPH when completely stopped - sometimes it will not work at all. Vehicle has not been repaired due to the cost involved. Also have had a problem with my power steering pump and a wheel hub. Hub replaced and paid out of pocket and it did not correct the problem. Paid $600 to replace the hub. Had to replace the tires because of that defect.”

NHTSA complaint #10230867, filed 2008-06, 85,000 miles

“1. Under chassis corrosion protection failure- key suspension and power train components affecting safe operation. 2. Factory did not apply standard automotive industry anti corrosion coatings prior to shipment. Damage occurred prior to dealer receipt. #. Factory rep has not provided or approved any possible remedy at this time. Problem was observed at first oil change-25 july 05 -first time the vehicle was on lift after delivery to customer.”

NHTSA complaint #10136826, filed 2005-09, 35 miles

“From a stopped position, trying to take off car acts as if I'm neutral and then will suddenly jerk into gear. The automatic hear shifts are rough and delayed. There's very little power or struggle to register when applying gas. When on fwy especially when in slow moving traffic there is a lot of problems with the transmission and slipping, rough gear shifts both up and down. Then the scary part is when driving with my 2 little girls and in regular or heavy traffic and making turns, especially left, I have had the car freeze up on me in the middle of intersections. …”

NHTSA complaint #10904861, filed 2016-09

“The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. The current and failure mileage were 30000. While driving the vehicle at 45 MPH the vehicle would drive weird, veering to the side of the road. The vehicle had been to the dealer numerous amounts of times and they continued to tell her that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. A different mechanic told her that the vehicle needed a wheel alignment, new brakes, and new rotors. The vehicle had been in a crash previously. Ak updated 06/08/07.”
