Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Forward collision avoidance system inappropriate activation on several occasions at different locations. There were no other vehicle in front. There were three beeps/red light flash on windshield. The cruise control would deactivate and car would decelerate by three to five mile. The tail lamps are not activated to warn drivers following. This is my second complaint the dealer solution is to turn off the feature. It work when it should the inappropriate activation is a nuisance.”

NHTSA complaint #10630218, filed 2014-09, 300 miles

“The vehicle is equipped with a vehicle collision warning device that is intended to warn the driver of a vehicle in front that you are to close to and closing range without braking. On about 1/2 dozen occasions the vehicle's early detection system has engaged without any vehicles in front. These occurrences seem to be on days when it is raining and their are reflections off the road, or very sunny days (again causing reflections). The flashing light, loud alarm, and interruption with regular audio is very jarring (scary). …”

NHTSA complaint #10667619, filed 2014-12, 5,100 miles

“I find my link very difficult to use as compare to my 2011 buick regal control knob vs touch screen. The ipod I use in the buick or the usb drive was easier to use and navigate. I spoken to apple and microsoft techs about creating playlists but the function does not work in my Impala. This is a problem in 2014 Chevrolet Impala and the my link system that need correction. The I tune and media player is incompatible with mylink and GM should provide software/app that will work. To change a selection in mylink can cause distracted driving.”
