Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“June 2016 at 20k miles the car was erratically shifting at 30-35 MPH and had a bad smell from the vents. I brought it to bonner Chevrolet who stated they were unable to replicate the issue and it may be due to running too high of an octane of fuel. The issue was not resolved. October 2016 I brought it back to the dealership for the same issue but I also noticed a slight ticking noise. A motor mount was changed but nothing was done about the shifting issue or bad smell. They stated because the car was not giving any codes, there was nothing else they could do about it. …”

“My 2014 cheverolet Impala with 57,000 miles has a transmission slip/stutter on gradual acceleration it appears to happen in 2nd 3rd 4th gear. Some times it shifts very hard or acts like it doesn't want to shift. This happens mostly in city driving where it has to select gears more frequently”

NHTSA complaint #11352198, filed 2020-08, 57,000 miles

“During braking, the car will sometimes lurch forward due to the transmission downshifting hard. The feeling created is like being hit in the rest by another car at low speed. This could cause the vehicle to rear-end another vehicle or cause an accident at intersections containing crosswalks and pedestrians.”
