“From the day I picked up this truck new I complained about the rusty chassis. I was told it was surface rust and that it would not cause any problems. Now the chassis is rusted to the point that I do not think the truck is safe.”

NHTSA complaint #10351533, filed 2010-08, 10,000 miles

“I had a flat tire. When I went to change it, the spare tire hoist with lowers the spare was inoperable and would not lower the spare. Had to take truck to dealer. I was told by dealer that the mechanism to lower the spare had rusted and had seized and had to be replaced, which ii did and paid for. Imagine being in an isolated area with foul weather and not being able to change your tire because you could not access the spare. I believe this to be a significant safety issue. I did complain to dealer without success or satisfaction . The car was obviously stationary at he time the event”

NHTSA complaint #11021301, filed 2017-09, 79,000 miles

“We have taken our 2000 Suburban in 9 times to get the water leak problem fixed at asheville Chevrolet. The moisture causes headaches in my 9 yr old son. We don't know what all might be growing in the carpet. We bought new carpet the last time and were told the problem was solved. 2 weeks later (the first rain) and we have a wet carpet again and our son has another headache.”

NHTSA complaint #10005442, filed 2003-02, 30,000 miles

“Rear back glass is detaching itself from the molding that holds the window to the hinges of the vehicle. I had the local Chevrolet dealer look at the window and they told me that it was normal wear and tear. I know that this is not normal for a vehicle of this age,(only 4 years old when problem found). Nothing has been done to fix this but I think that there should be a recall by gmc since I've talked with body shops in this area and this is not the first time they have seen this type of problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #10159015, filed 2006-06, 85,000 miles

“My wife was driving our 2000 Suburban on the interstate when she heard a loud sound which sounded like something hit the vehicle. Upon investigation, we saw that the top of the rear window had an indenting like something had hit it and damaged the rear glass. So we filed a complaint with state farm and took it to a body shop. The body shop looked at it and said that the damage was caused by the right hinge breaking which holds the rear glass to the body. The hinge just broke on its own. After further investigation, I have found other people who have had a similar experience. …”
