“The bolts that hold the exhaust manifolds down are breaking off at the heads and causing exhaust leaks. Which are in turn causing my catalytic converters fail prematurely. I hope GM fixes this massive problem with there ls v8 engines!”

NHTSA complaint #10564075, filed 2014-02, 242,000 miles

“I have a 2001 chevy Suburban k2500, it takes me 45 minutes to fill up the gas tank, I believe the air does not escape from the gas tank and it causes it to overflow when filling and may cause fire if unattended since when you press the gas pump to pump faster it overflows and leaks on the exhaust pipe and could cause fire, also gasoline might do harm to environment while overflowing, so, please help, its winter here where we live and 45 minutes at the gas pump is really something, thank you-valentin”

NHTSA complaint #10211416, filed 2007-12, 159,000 miles

“Gm currently has a recall for wiring on the fuel system for 2001 suburbans. My fuel pump assembly was replaced recently due to this same issue. The VIN number of my Suburban was not covered, however, the problem was that as described by the recall notice. The repair shop contacted the local dealership, and the dealership would not cover the repair as not an approve recall VIN for my Suburban. Based on what is published, this repair appear to be the same thing. Would like reimbursement for this item.”

NHTSA complaint #10155338, filed 2006-04, 89,690 miles

“After filling up with gas at sam's, I drove down to the sams store to make purchases. When I returned to my vehicle, a pool of gas was underneath and beside my Suburban causing a huge fire hazard. The fire dept. Was called to the scene and offered to escort us to our choice of repair location. The local Chevrolet dealership replaced the fuel module which they said had gone bad and caused fuel to be pumped out of the tank. The possible hazards to me and my family associated with this fuel leakage terrify me.”

NHTSA complaint #10080502, filed 2004-07, 43,464 miles

“I stopped to get gas 1 mile from my house on the way to work. I filled the tank and got back in the car. When I tried to start the engine it continued to turn over but would not start. I tried 3 times. A person behind my 2001 Suburban noticed gasoline leaking beneath the car. It initially was leaking about a 1/4 gallon per minute. The fire department and hazard response team was called. The spill was limited to 2 gallons. A toe truck took the car to the dealer. The dealer determined that a short had occurred inside the fuel tank which caused the fuel pump to melt and leak to the atmosphere. …”
