“I was driving in my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica on a rural street when it suddenly felt like the front passanger side tire had blown out. The car was difficult to control & and pulled to the right, pushing up against the curb. The car started to smoke and would not turn off. Concerned it was going to go on fire, my daughter & I ran out. When we were out of the car I saw that the front axle connecting the tire had come completely disconnected and dropped to the street while driving. I called 911 for help. The firemen arrived first. …”
NHTSA complaint #11277493, filed 2019-11, 11,000 miles“Loose feeling in front end while driving the car and going over bumps in the road, had vehicle serviced 4 times by 2 service places, the noise still exists and I am concerned something will happen driving my car so I have rented a vehicle a few times to make sure of mine and my family's safety, this issue has been going on for 2 to 3 months now and every technician can't seem to duplicate the noise that we feel when going over bumps,it almost feels like something is bobbling around under the car, this issue also affects the steering when making a left turn and it makes some sort of rubbing or…”
NHTSA complaint #11195997, filed 2019-04, 6,118 miles“Wheel wells fill up with snow and ice builds up. The tires have no room to work. They spin but don't go anywhere. You can have your pedal to the ground, and the tires are not able to propel forward b/c of the extreme snow/ice build up in the wheel wells. It is extremely dangerous b/c it can happen as you are stopped at a light. Once the light turns green, you are unable to go b/c the tires just keep spinning. The only way to get your car moving again is hope that some of the snow breaks loose or you have to manually remove the build up that is around, behind and on the tires!!! …”
NHTSA complaint #11072158, filed 2018-02, 1,000 miles“My 2018 Pacifica Hybrid suffered a catastrophic suspension separation while driving—the exact failure described in Safety Recall V15. The driver fortunately arrived at home safely only seeing smoke coming out form the tire rubbing against the wheel hood. Although my VIN isn't showing as 'active,' this is clearly a safety defect. I would like to open a case for a Goodwill Repair or a 'Special Policy' adjustment because this is a known dangerous failure.”
NHTSA complaint #11732649, filed 2026-04“While I was driving the right control arm seperated from the car. I was fortunate that I wasn't on the highway, also that I did not cause a collision with another car/person. With no warning the car felt as if it dropped on to the ground. Soon after I received an error message saying to service the brakes which i assume was also damaged when the control arm fell... I had to have the car towed to a repair shop and received a list of repairs. The car is avaliable for inspection. I had no clue how something like that could even happen. …”
