“Turning onto on-ramp of a highway I was moving about 20 miles an hour when the engine died and I lost power steering. Additionally, I felt a very tough transmission shift 2-3 seconds before I lost power steering and when the engine died. The car took multiple attempts to turn over. A very loud whirring noise began in the engine/transmission area and is yet to stop.”
NHTSA complaint #11252503, filed 2019-08, 160,000 miles“My 2006 Dodge Charger has began to stall after a gas fill-up. It is very scary because it does not matter how fast you are driving. I had it stall about 5 times after filling up today. One in which I was going 40 MPH. The steering wheel locks up and it is very dangerous. I am very concerned for the safety if myself and family.”
NHTSA complaint #10671168, filed 2015-01, 77,195 miles“While merging onto the interstate my engine shut completely off; I lost power steering and all throttle control. NHTSA complaint #10970023, filed 2017-04, 37,700 miles“After I filled up on gas I drove out of the station and a block later while traveling 35 MPH my car completely turned off and the oil light came on. I could not steer or brake. I got out of the road put it in park and it started right up. I decided to drive two blocks farther to the oil change place and it did it again just died while driving down a busy street but started right up. I took it to a mechanic who could not find any codes or any problems.”
NHTSA complaint #11074058, filed 2018-02, 99,000 miles“Right after leaving the gas station from filling up my cars' gas tank my engine stalled when I came to a stop on a very busy intersection. I was able to start it again but it turned off on me again, repeated the process twice until the light changed and I was able to make it home. Drove around my neighborhood making multiple stops to see it if happened again in which the engine only turned off once more.”
