“Every time I fill my car up with gas and drive off from the gas station into on coming traffic the car will stall in the middle of the road I almost got hit in the side just yesterday. I got online and did some research and found out that there is a problem with the gas tanks on these cars that cause them to stall after putting gas in them.”
NHTSA complaint #11408601, filed 2021-04, 215,915 miles“For the last several months I have had problems with my 2006 Dodge Charger rt stalling and cutting while driving or idling while stopped. This happens only after filling up my gas tank. Recently it happened while turning at an intersection and I had to quickly steer into a business parking lot to get out of traffic.”
NHTSA complaint #11320624, filed 2020-04, 120,000 miles“Car continues to stall at low speed, stop sign, light, etc. Im very cautious when I turn onto traffic for fear of car stalling and me getting hit. Had it to numerous mechanics and no one can pin point it. Usually stalls out 5-10 times on way to and from work everyday. I live about 4 miles from my job.”
NHTSA complaint #11378028, filed 2020-12, 82,000 miles“Shortly after fill up the car will die. This has happened multiple times after filling up and it has happened after multiple fill ups. The car will start moving and I will begin driving when the car dies and I lose power steering. I took it to a mechanic and they said that it is a known safety issue with 2006 Dodge chargers. The fuel tank and the evap canister needs to be replaced.”
NHTSA complaint #11064904, filed 2018-01, 135,000 miles“Filled gas tank, did not top off. Left parking lot and the car died going down the road. Happened 3 times that day. Has happened many times since november 2020, didn't know you had complaint line. This left me with no steering or brakes. It has now gotten to the point of the car won't even start now. I am afraid that damage from this issue has 'taken' my car, as it will no longer start. We upkeep our vehicles with regular maintenance.”
