“Car caught on fire in the middle of the night, reason unknown but apparently it had to do with a recall on the cruise control switch . We never received any letter's or notices of the following recall. Vehichle was destroyed and we also had property damage to carport and house totalling $40,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10462515, filed 2012-06, 107,000 miles“I have a 2000 Ford Expedition, this is the second time a spark plug has blown out of the cylinder, I did some searching and found thousands of other people with the same problem, the last one was a ways from home and I drove it home, just found out that the car could have caught fire. It's time Ford did something about this potentially dangerous problem and I hope you can help. Thanks john bendik”
NHTSA complaint #10229078, filed 2008-05, 75,000 miles“I own a 2000 Ford Expedition. I was driving down the road 2 days ago when the spare tire winch assembly failed and the spare tire fell off the underside of the vehicle, bounced up and hit the vehicle and then rolled down the street. Fortunately, no one was behind me and it did not cause an accident. Has there been any recalls on this type of problem?”
NHTSA complaint #10018810, filed 2003-05, 32,500 miles“In june, my 2000 Ford Expedition spontaneously caught on fire in my driveway. It had been parked for well over an hour. It appears as if the fire was electical. Fire damage was caused to my home as well as a vehicle parked inside the garage. As of yet, my insurance has not settled with me despite the truck being totalled. Ford motor company has not returned my calls either. A fire investigation was done by the north las vegas fire department but cause was undetermined. After doing some investigating of my own, I have found many people who have had the same problem. …”
