“The car was running well and suddenly it die. No lights in dash board, no shakes, no any previous sign of trouble. Simply it die. I pumped the accelerator pedal and the car continue running. Next time, few days after the incident, the car does the same. This time do not continue running when I pump gas. I have to put in neutral and start it again. It start at once. Could be more than two weeks without signal of problem and then, it happen again. Some other time, it happen 4 or 5 times in a half hour trip.”

NHTSA complaint #10595537, filed 2014-06, 139,000 miles

“Why is there no warning light,or signal of any kind when the PCM fails? Our PCM failed, which caused our catalytic converters, 02 sensors, & fuel pump to fail. Our ignition coils had to be replaced. Would have been nice if a warning light came on the dash. This has caused our Expedition engine to randomly shut off while driving countless times! I have miraculously been able to maneuver my Expedition to the side of the freeway &have it towed eight times without killing myself, my family or any one else! …”

NHTSA complaint #10458864, filed 2012-05, 95,905 miles

“On march 11, 2004 I was driving my Expedition on the I-95 during rush hour when I noticed that car began to feel very heavy. I also noticed that the speedometer was going down from 65 MPH to 45 MPH despite fact that I was pressing down the gas pedal, and suddenly all of the engine lights turned on. I was able to pull over on the shoulder of the highway without any incident. I waited for a few minutes and the car restarted with no problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10113964, filed 2005-03, 52,000 miles

“My Expedition is a 1yr and 5 months. With less than 500 miles paid for a front end alignment and tire rotation, because of bad vibration at speeds of 60-70 miles an hour. Still had vibration, took it back to dealer, they said the truck came with tires out of balance. Still had vibration, took it back to dealership, a box dealing with the steering wheel had to be replaced. Since then I have paid for another front end alignment and tire balance, now tires have worn so bad dealership will probably blame worn tires for the vibration. There is more!!! …”

NHTSA complaint #10096433, filed 2004-10, 500 miles

“The cruise control won't work at times. The few times it does work the cruise control will accelerate or turn off on it's own. I've taken it to different Ford dealerships as well as two firestone businesses and they haven't detected anything wrong.”
