“On october 19, 2020 my husband and I were traveling on i295 south near jacksonville, florida when we heard an extremely loud explosion similar to a gunshot inside the Ford Expedition. The noise was so jarring my husband jerked the steering wheel but quickly gained control. We were lucky there weren't any cars in the left lane because we could have caused an accident. We weren't sure what had happened. As we quickly assessed the situation, we could hear the sound of glass cracking above us. The sun visor above us was closed as well as the sunroof. …”

“I have a 2020 Expedition that we have had to change the windshield wipers out on frequently. I just replaced them last week and they are already bouncing during a heavy rain. I saw there was a recall to some of the windshield wiper arms but when I entered my VIN, mine was not included.”

NHTSA complaint #11522462, filed 2023-05

“Panoramic moonroof suddenly exploded in a car wash during the high pressure air drying. Thankfully the sunshade was closed and my 3 children sitting in the middle row were not sprayed or hit with the shattered glass, water or air from the car wash and were not seriously injured. Ford clearly knows there is a problem, and I’ve watched numerous news stories about exploding moonroofs and I want to know if NHTSA will re- investigate this known problem and huge safety risk.”

NHTSA complaint #11568666, filed 2024-01

“The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the rear windshield unexpectedly shattered. There was no impact to the rear windshield that could have caused it to shatter. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 17,143. The VIN was unavailable.”

NHTSA complaint #11448798, filed 2022-01, 17,143 miles

“The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the sunroof fractured. The contact stated that there was no impact on the sunroof. In addition, the contact stated that the sunroof glass had exploded outward. The contact stated that had the sunroof had exploded from the inside, the shattered glass pieces would have fallen onto the contact's wife, who was seated in the front passenger's seat. The contact stated that as the owner of the vehicle, the sunroof had never been opened. …”
