“Deafening pulsing noise coming from all speakers , volume button did not turn it off. Shut truck and locked it and did not stop the noise. Unplugged battery and did not stop noise. After about 15 minutes it stopped. Got into truck and there was an electrical burning smell. I have recorded the noise on video. Big safety concern, if the noise happened while I was moving I might have crashed. My ears were ringing for awhile after the incident.”
NHTSA complaint #11518507, filed 2023-04“Radio started blasting a boom/ static sound from the rear speakers and subwoofer; extremely loud and has occurred multiple times. It had previously made a similiar sound occasionally at start up which when under warranty was always diagnosed as unable to duplicate but is now occuring while driving and I am out of warranty. Very startling and distracting when it occurs. Has occured multiple times and lasts upto an hour before I gave up an parked my vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #11557139, filed 2023-11“On March 24, 2023, I got inside my 2021 Ford F-150 Power Boost King Ranch Truck, Turned it on. Heard a loud popping sound. Began to drive away. Then all of a sudden there was a loud static sound. The sound was so loud like someone turned the volume to MAX limit and I began trying to turn it off. The radio was not responsive. I started to panic because I had all these vehicles around me and could not think correctly. It was affecting my decision making and all I could think of is turning off my phone, pressing the Power On + Next Track button to hard reset radio , etc. Nothing worked. …”
NHTSA complaint #11514382, filed 2023-03“My radio speakers turned to 100% volume and the subwoofer made an EXTREMELY loud static noise. It could not be turned off. My ears rang and thankfully I wasn’t driving fast enough, as I was about to pull into my driveway. Based on the advice of a thread I read online, the best way to fix the issue was to shut the truck off and let the noise eventually turn off… which took ten minutes. Since I could not reproduce the issue, and based on everything I’ve read about this issue, going to the dealer would not be a benefit of my time as they require the issue to be happening to diagnose the issue. …”
NHTSA complaint #11488482, filed 2022-10“Our truck is equipped with the B&O Unleashed sound system. One afternoon, upon starting the truck after completing a brief errand, an extremely loud POP sound occured, followed by terrible static and crackling from every speaker. The noises continued for several minutes, even after noticing the audio system was off and then also turning the truck itself off. The terrible noises simply continued. Although the sound eventually stopped, the truck now regularly makes two or three quieter popping sounds as the driver first approaches the truck; nearly every time. …”
