“I purchased a f 150 one year ago. I went into a store only to come out to a flat tire (minutes later). I took it to mincz tire, and the problem was a faulty valve stem. The same thing happened days later. All of the valve stems are cracking and must now be replaced. Later that week, I saw a television report on faulty valve stems, so I decided to report.”

NHTSA complaint #10231996, filed 2008-06, 12,000 miles

“I had a valve stem failure which LED to a flat tire while driving. When I took the truck in to discount tire to have it checked, they said all of the valve stems were bad and replaced them all. There was no cost to me and no damage. I saw the article in the paper about it and decided to report it for data gathering purposes.”

NHTSA complaint #10246346, filed 2008-10, 12,000 miles

“2007 Ford f150 valve stem broke and caused a blowout on the highway. After recovering from being driven off the road, I noticed that my three other tires had cracked valve stems as well. Ford needs to issue an immediate recall and deal with this hazard before someone gets killed or seriously injured.”

NHTSA complaint #10269819, filed 2009-05, 25,569 miles

“In february, 2009, I experienced a low tire warning light on my left rear tire. I took it to wal-mart and the tech immediately knew it was the stem. He replaced the stem and balanced the tire. In march, 2009, my right rear went flat. Same problem. If you move the stem, you can hear the air leak out. Nitrogen in my case. The stem base appears to be too small for the rim. I have michelin p255/65r17 ltx a/s on my 2007 Ford f150 crew cab.”

NHTSA complaint #10261075, filed 2009-03, 23,000 miles

“I just want to report that on my 2007 Ford F-150 pickup I have had three valve stems break causing flat tires. I am 56 years old and don't think I have ever had a valve stem break like this, much less 3. When I did an internet search on this problem it looked as if others were having the same problem because of faulty chinese made valves, I just thought I needed to report it, I felt this could be a dangerous situation.”
