“I have had problems with rotors since I bought truck in 09', a month or 2 after I bought it I had rotors changed and then every 3 to 4 months after that. My front wheels are black after 2 weeks of driving. I have never pulled a trailer with this truck and this truck has been used lightly. Also after 12 years old, mechanic told me yesterday I have a year or 2 before my frame is going completely rusted thru and be dangerous to drive.”
NHTSA complaint #11320904, filed 2020-04, 7,000 miles“The incident took place on an exit on interstate (I-610 loop south in houston). My son came to a stop when car in front stopped abruptly. This is when my son was rear ended by 2016 f-250 that was towing horse trailer. This pushed my son's truck into the car in front. Impact completely buckled my son's truck bed and damaged the front and the inside cabin. Both the front seats broke (back reclining portion snapped backward) plus neither airbags inflated from the impact. …”
NHTSA complaint #11399972, filed 2021-03, 145,000 miles“2908 Ford F-150 frame corrosion. Dec 2016 took truck to local tire repair facility. They advised vehicle was not safe due to corrosion of truck frame. Truck is a Ford F-150 2008 with approximately 80k miles. They advised not to drive long distances or pull anything. I took it back to dealership where I bought vehicle in sept 2015 and they have not been helpful. I have also tried to contact Ford who only states truck is out of 36,000 mile warranty.”
NHTSA complaint #10949053, filed 2017-02, 80,000 miles“Steering wheel has become difficult to turn. Feels as if it is locking up and I really have to muscle it back to center after taking a sharp turn. I took it to my mechanic and he lubricated a u joint on the steering shaft which helped and told me to bring it back if/when it starts binding up again. He informed me he has replaced the lower steering shaft on other f150's due to severe rust/corrosion at the joint. …”
NHTSA complaint #10548619, filed 2013-10, 44,000 miles“While the truck was parked on level ground in a parking lot, I noticed what a appeared to be a hole rusted through the drivers side frame. Further investigation revealed that there were several large holes beginning in front of the rear wheel and extending to about the middle of the cab. These holes are all the way through, (both sides of the rail), on both sides of the truck. See attached pictures. I feel this significantly compromises the integrity of the frame and makes it less safe to operate. I am also very surprised to see so much corrosion on an 11 year truck. …”
