“I was driving approximately 70 MPH when I crossed a set of rail road tracks and the vehicle shook violently enough to cause me to enter left ditch. After applying the breaks and slowing to 15 MPH I regained control. I got out and check the tires and all seemed fine. Started to slowly drive and it was fine. A few miles later I began to smell diesel fuel. When I reached my destination the smell was very strong. Opened the hood and there was fuel leaking from the top of the engine and steaming from the inter cooler. …”

NHTSA complaint #11257704, filed 2019-09, 31,980 miles

“Vehicle was in motion on a city street and the fuel injector dash light appeared momentarily and then disappeared . Shortly afterwards, I began to sense the slight smell of diesel and just as I turned into my homes driveway there was a loud burst from the engine compartment and the truck began to smoke. I stopped and shut off the vehicle immediately and exited as I was going to inspect the situation. There were screams of fire coming from my wife as the trucks engine compartment began to roar with flames. Action was taken to put out the fire but the flames were too strong. …”

NHTSA complaint #11181777, filed 2019-02, 23,000 miles

“Truck was driving down the highway and fuel sprayed over the motor and caught the truck on fire and lost brakes while fire was coming up onto the I windshield. Truck finally came to a stop with the use of trailer brakes. The cab was filled with smoke and thee dashboard was melting.”

NHTSA complaint #11296958, filed 2020-01, 75,000 miles

“the fuel pump failed causing the truck to lose power and ultimately shutdown while driving down the interstate. no warning messages received. our safety was put at risk because the vehicle completely shut down causing us to almost get rear ended on the interstate this problem has been confirmed not only in our vehicle but thousands of other vehicles of the same year, make, and model.”

NHTSA complaint #11634310, filed 2025-01

“The owners manual states I have a tank capacity of 36 gallons. On E I can only fit about 26 gallons. If I were to take my average MPG and use the advertised 36 gallons to figure out how far I would run out of fuel and this would cause the vehicle to stall while driving. Ford is aware of this issue and knows how to fix it but declined to take care of the safety repair.”
