“I just bought my vehicle and started noticing some issues with the car racing/idling fast. Several times it would lung forward while driving and while foot was on brake almost hitting a car, then stalled & reduced speed and wouldn't accelerate. The wrench light came on. Took it too oreillys and found it is the throttle and throttle sensor. This is a serious issue and dangerous. I want it fixed by Ford asap!”

NHTSA complaint #10892689, filed 2016-08, 97,000 miles

“While I am driving down the road, it feels like the vehicle shuts off. I am still able to accelerate, steer and stop; however, the lights, heater and radio shut off and all of my gauges quit working. My dashboard says check charging system but the source of the issue has not been found. I have already replaced the starter (was making a clicking noise at times), battery and alternator. This has happened several times on different road types and varying speeds.”

NHTSA complaint #11228563, filed 2019-06, 160,000 miles

“Car lunges when sitting still with engine running both forward and reverse and is worse when air cond is on. Loud noise I believe is coming from transmission while parked and running and sitting still. System was overcharging and caused my battery to explode. Check light comes on intermittently.”

NHTSA complaint #10631293, filed 2014-09, 142,000 miles

“2005 Ford Freestyle sel has lost power and turned off completely twice. Both times, I turned the AC and radio off and it started back up immediately. I have also experienced the sudden surge others have described when slowing at an intersection for a stop sign and it does require a quick hard break to keep from entering the intersection. Both of these events are extremely dangerous.”

NHTSA complaint #10399124, filed 2011-05, 100,000 miles

“The dashboard instrument panel fails regularly and all gauges (speed, gas, temp, etc.) fall to zero. The dashboard and other interior lights also do not work when this happens. At first, it happened intermittently and would work most of the time, but not all. Now, it happens regularly and I have driven several times without knowing my speed or fuel level. Sometimes the computer resets. …”
