“Cvt fail, throttle body issue, started in september 2016. Car now has 135,030 miles. Happens continuously, when idle and moving down the road. I sent a letter to Ford and they responded with a sorry...we can't help you . Making helicopter noise. Loses power and goes into failsafe mode. I will attach both letters.”
NHTSA complaint #10939023, filed 2017-01, 129,030 miles“I was parked. I put the car in drive. As I started to take my foot off the brake, the car lunged forward. I pressed the brake hard to stop the surge. It scared me. The next day, it happened again, several times. In reverse and drive, I watched the rpms go up without my foot touching the throttle. This is scary and unacceptable!”
NHTSA complaint #10478688, filed 2012-10, 69,000 miles“After quickly crossing traffic and entering my driveway (which is on a downward slope) I released the gas on entering my driveway and applied the brake. Just before applying the brake the vehicle lurched. It didn't lurch far, but enough for me to rapidly depress the brake pedal in surprise. One item of note--the low fuel indicator was on and my next stop was to get gas.”
NHTSA complaint #10459902, filed 2012-05, 84,250 miles“Unintended acceleration-I stopped at traffic light and the engine stayed at a high RPM and did not drop to idle RPM. I was able to hold foot on brake until light turned green, the problem did not reoccur. I was not using cruise control. I took the car to my Ford dealer and they were unable to find anything wrong. This problem has not recurred but is very frightening when it occurs.”
NHTSA complaint #10482374, filed 2012-10, 71,700 miles“I own a 2005 Ford Freestyle with 95,720 miles. On july 10th, 2010, my car lurched forward and almost ran me through the front window of a jewelry store. My car message center then went in to fail safe engine mode . The dealership told me the throttle body is bad and the car is not safe to drive. The new part will take an estimated 30-60 days to come in.”
