“Driving just fine whenever I got it. Not even 20,000 miles later at about 122k miles the transmission is bad and going out. It drives at high RPM but low speeds and will not shift into proper gear. Makes a funny airplane noise from the transmission. This vehicle has been kept up with by me.”
NHTSA complaint #11342877, filed 2020-08, 122,000 miles“I just bought my vehicle and started noticing some issues with the car racing/idling fast. Several times it would lung forward while driving and while foot was on brake almost hitting a car, then stalled & reduced speed and wouldn't accelerate. The wrench light came on. Took it too oreillys and found it is the throttle and throttle sensor. This is a serious issue and dangerous. I want it fixed by Ford asap!”
NHTSA complaint #10892689, filed 2016-08, 97,000 miles“Driving my 2005 Ford Freestyle and all of a sudden, the vehicle starts to rev forward and backwards. I see the engine fail safe mode appear and a lit up wrench also appears and the engine starts stalling or surging, followed by a sudden loss of power.”
NHTSA complaint #11139391, filed 2018-10, 10 miles“My car makes a funny high pitched noise while driving. Also in park to drive, it will lunge forward. I was told that it is a intake bearing that has come loose in my transmission. The noise gets louder as you continue to accelerate. It will only make the noise when it is in motion. I bought this vehicle used in 2010 with around 58,000 miles.”
NHTSA complaint #10460277, filed 2012-06, 73,000 miles“While putting the vehicle both into drive and reverse it revs and/or rpms drop, and lunges until I hit the brakes or the motor cuts out and displays engine failure safety. It has done this twice, then a check engine light came on. I will schedule an appointment with the dealership, however it does cause a bit of nerves when it happens.”
