“I just bought this 2006 Ford Freestyle and have almost had 4 wrecks this week! It just surges randomly in the school pick up line redlights parking lots and stop signs im scared for my familys safety.I dont know what to do I paid alot of money for this car from an indivdual”
NHTSA complaint #11266508, filed 2019-10, 135,000 miles“The wrench on left side of dashboard comes on and when I shift into drive or from drive to park transmission jerks. Have had it looked at but never find anythang. Does it more when it's hot out or when engine gets warm. Love my Ford Freestyle just hard to take trips outa town. Happens while driving. Can't drive over 50 MPH and if I am I have to pull over shut off vehicle and wait a few minutes and start it back up. Sometimes I have to repeat that a few times”
NHTSA complaint #11258045, filed 2019-09, 189,597 miles“My 2006 Ford Freestyle lurches forward at 0 to 5 MPH. The lurching occurs even if I do not press the pedal. It is dangerous at intersections and when trying to park. A mechanic replaced the EGR valve and it is still lurching forward..from what I have found on the internet it seems that many others are having the same problem with this vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10475516, filed 2012-09, 119,205 miles“The car would lunge forward when I would take my foot off the brake before I could get my foot to the gas pedal. Then started to lunge at low speeds in traffic...now it will lose power to the transmission and I will have to pull over, turn the car off, then start it again. This has happened in the city and on the highway when traveling 65mph in traffic.”
NHTSA complaint #10479807, filed 2012-10, 94,000 miles“Our vehicle has been making noises since august, 2012. It also lunges forward when in park and when going at low speed. Afraid it is going to lunge forward and cause an accident or hit someone in crosswalk. We have had work done on this vehicle and nobody can tell us what the issue is. We have contacted Ford as it appears they have had numerous complaints and no response.”
