“While driving 65 MPH on the interstate my vehicle went into limp mode causing the vehicle to drastically slow down and requiring evasive action to get to the shoulder during heavy traffic. This has never happened before and I went to the dealership and was advised that the fault code was p21111 thottle actuator control system stuck open .”

NHTSA complaint #10717818, filed 2015-05, 42,187 miles

“Received error code p2111, the car will bog down without notice and I cannot accelerate. This happens often and it does not matter if I am going slow or fast. The research I have done shows this to be a faulty throttle body. I found a website which shows affected owners should contact Ford and mention consumer satisfaction program 13n03. I plan on calling joe myers Ford in houston, tx tomorrow 3/5/14.”

NHTSA complaint #10567086, filed 2014-03, 40,000 miles

“Today I was accelerating to get on the freeway. I took my foot off the pedal to slow down and the car kept accelerating. I then stepped on the brakes and the car kept accelerating. I slam on the brakes ad the car finally started to slow down. Took my phone off the brakes and the car once again accelerated. I again stood on the brakes and was able to get the car to stop on the side of the freeway. Scary stuff. Car was towed to dealer today.”

NHTSA complaint #10640603, filed 2014-10, 42,267 miles

“While driving with cruise control set at 55 MPH, car began to decelerate, yellow wrench advisory light illuminated and engine appeared to be running rough. Car slowed to a stop and I pulled the car off the roadway. I switched off the ignition and waited approximately 30 seconds. I restarted the car. The advisory light stayed off and the engine ran normally thereafter. When the incident occurred, the car was on a highway curving turn to the right. The incident occurred coming out of the curve.”

NHTSA complaint #10915386, filed 2016-10, 122,000 miles

“Vehicle stuck accelerator at slow and higher speeds!! It happened once while I was driving it and once while my daughter was driving. This could easily cause severe accident. Throttle body was replaced by dealer. This accelerator problem happened after the throttle body was replaced. By the dealer. I brought it back to the dealer after this incident and they called me and said they can find nothing wrong . I told them to keep the car until the find the problem as this out of control acceleration is very dangerous.”
