Example complaints

“While driving on Interstate 10 at 70 mph the upper section of the front grille broke off. After the part broke off it contacted my windshield before continuing to fly off behind him. Not only putting me in danger but also anyone traveling behind me. From online research the is a recall for this truck except the 2022 models after the same thing happening.”

NHTSA complaint #11717196, filed 2026-02

“The front grille bezel mounting clips broke and it started to fly off while driving on the highway. Luckily, I was able to pull over before the last clip broke and took it off before it became a spear flying at the cars behind me. There is an active recall for this issue for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 models, but not 2023/2024 models (same body I believe).”

NHTSA complaint #11753825, filed 2026-07

“The attachment points for the upper chrome grille deflector have fractured, causing the trim piece to detach completely while driving and fly over my windshield which startled me and made me swerve dangerously. This is a known recall for the truck year before me and should clearly affect my truck too since the same description happens here”

NHTSA complaint #11745600, filed 2026-06

“The upper grille trim piece came off while driving down I20 between Hudson Oaks and Willow Park. I was doing between 60-65 mph. It could’ve hit other vehicles behind me, or to the side of me. This piece is a known issue and the 2022’s have a recall but not the 2023 model years. No signs of this being about to break.”

NHTSA complaint #11757856, filed 2026-08

“Driving vehicle at approximately 70 mph when a semi truck passed me going the opposite direction. The upper grille deflector / molding section of my front end grille blew off and landed into on coming traffic. I understand a recall was issued for the same problem on the 2022 models, but not the 2023 model.”
