Example complaints

Electrical system: “Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 92,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 98,325. The Carfax report was not available at the time of purchase. The mileage discrepancy was later identified through the vehicle manufacturer’s Mobile App.”

NHTSA complaint #11705037, filed 2025-12, 98,325 miles

Transmission and drivetrain: “Was driving down the highway and was approaching a red light. As I was slowing down my transmission down shifted hard and my rear wheels briefly locked up and my truck went in to reduced power Took to dealership only to find out the valve body failed and my truck wasn't covered”

NHTSA complaint #11721120, filed 2026-02

Other or unknown: “The Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Pipe (boost pipe) blew off while towing a heavy trailer uphill on a busy interstate. I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get as far as possible off the road. The truck was sent into limp mode and would barely crawl. Our lives were put at risk of being hit by the many tractor trailers traveling that highway, or another driver traveling at high speeds. The truck was eventually towed to the nearest GM dealer for service. The pipe was replaced, but the faulty one was not kept on hand. The repair was not covered by GM. …”

NHTSA complaint #11760085, filed 2026-08

Tires: “I had taken our GMC Sierra 2500 with LT275/R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires into Henderson Chevrolet for maintenance and to have the tires checked. The technician stated that the front tires were showing tread separation. I was shocked because the tires only had around 20,000 miles. The truck is not used for towing and is kept in the garage away from the sun. I asked the technician to double check the rear tires for separation and he stated they were fine. A couple of weeks later, I was driving to California and there was a loud bang on the rear driver side. …”
