“After going over a bump in the road the front seat came un-welded on the front left side, causing the seat to tilt back and forth. Dealer told me that they could not fix it, it needed to be welded. Auto repair said that it couldn't be welded, I needed at least a new seat frame ($300-$400) or possibly a whole new seat ($800-$900).”
NHTSA complaint #10266556, filed 2009-04, 120,000 miles“Driver seat welding has loosened requiring a replacement of the entire seat including the seat mount. I was advised that it could not be rewelded but would need the entire seat including the seat mount completely replaced. My vehicle failed safety inspection due to the seat coming loose therefore a brake test cannot be completed.”
NHTSA complaint #10249779, filed 2008-11, 120,000 miles“I have a 2000 Honda Accord coupe v6 the window latches and driver's side door have completely locked up again this is the second time I've paid out of my pocket 500$ for a door that should have been recalled years ago considering all the videos I have seen of this exact same problem with this exact same years and models I'm serious about considering a class action suit against Honda for ignoring this issue and now yet again the driver side door has locked up again this needs to be recalled there's thousands of cars same year same problem and you have done nothing to right this wrong also the…”
NHTSA complaint #11389064, filed 2021-01, 60,000 miles“Seat welding like other people have listed did not hold up. I was driving on the highway when I heard a noise and my seat fell back. I almost crashed when I was able to grab the top handle near the drivers side window and pull myself back up in order to maintain control of my vehicle. Clearly this is not an issue that is a freak accident. The parts clearly have not been welded properly and it is amazing that no one has been hurt by this. Honda should offer to fix every one of these seats. The fact that a drivers seat weld could fail in the mist of just sitting and driving your car is scary.”
NHTSA complaint #10990797, filed 2017-05, 195,000 miles“The vehicle is a 2000 Honda Accord. The drivers power seat bracket has broke. This is the front left corner. This is a power seat. I think the weld failed. I will take it to a shop for repair and reinforcement. I believe this is a very serious condition and would cause injury or death in a collision. I think this is a part that should never fail. Incidentally, I am not obese. I weigh 215 pounds and am a 6 ft tall male.”
