“While driving in the highway at 65 MPH, my 99 Odyssey engine died and every thing turned off !! Of course the steering wheel became too hard to operate and steer. Fortunately I was at far right lane. Than it started doing the same thing more often. I wonder if the Honda dealers would fix that free of charge, since I heard that was a recall about the same problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10474333, filed 2012-09, 110,000 miles“Our 1999 Honda Odyssey has had the p0740 torque clutch converter solenoid circuit (open) code displayed numerous times, we thought since it was a serious issue and the transmission had already been replaced within 20,000 miles that we should actually take it to the dealer in marysville, wa and have them do a transmission flush then a supervisor and said no you should have us run a diagnostic by one of our master techs. …”
NHTSA complaint #10723580, filed 2015-06, 154,354 miles“Almost had a real live auto accident. Then researched and came across NHTSA recall #03v423000. Called Honda, and they said, not our problem, it doesn't apply to your VIN . End of conversation. So, what recourse do I have? What are your recommendations? Is there someone else higher up I can contact as opposed to the Honda 800 #? Thanks.”
NHTSA complaint #10329948, filed 2010-05, 100,000 miles“My wife was driving the 1999 Honda Odyssey ex home on the freeway. We were going home after having dinner. And the check engine light went on,we heard a noise and soon after all the dash lights went on followed by stiff steering wheel, and then the Honda completely shut off. We were able to coast to the side off ramp off the freeway. …”
NHTSA complaint #10185864, filed 2007-03, 144,810 miles“My 1999 Honda Odyssey exhibited all the symptoms of the existing Honda safety recall for ignition switch failure. My van stalled many times in traffic causing a road hazard. My van was originally repaired under this recall in may 2002 but, obviously, this repair did not correct the defect. Honda has refused to cover the additional repair under the safety campaign stating they only cover one repair per vehicle.”
