“I called the manufacturer twice about the recall 255. I feel usafe driving the vehicle after reading the recall report and cases. I called the dealership it was purchased from twice also and just got brushed off. Hyundai customer care put me on hold and hung up. I spent over $56,000 on this vehicle and expect better than this.”
NHTSA complaint #11583878, filed 2024-04“When picking up my children from daycare, my 2024 Palisade (37K miles) would not shift into park. It was stuck in the reverse position. It would not shift to any drive, park, or neutral. Even in the reverse position, the car would not move. I applied the emergency brake and had to turn the car off without placing it in park. When I restarted the car, and place it in reverse, the engine made clunking noise. The dash said Shifting Malfunction. Service Immediately .”
NHTSA complaint #11728160, filed 2026-03“Engine fire caused by AC compressor. On 09/28/24, at 1700 miles and in the parking lot of a restaurant, smoke suddenly began filling the cabin and when I looked out the window the entire car's front was engulfed in a gray smoke. The overpowering smell was of burning wire insulation, plastic, and rubber. I immediately shut the car off, popped the hood, and was ready to run into the restaurant for a fire extinguisher when I noticed the large cloud of smoke was dissipating, but the heat was still incredibly extreme and a good amount of smoke was still pouring from the engine. …”
NHTSA complaint #11618193, filed 2024-10“This complaint is in regards to RECALL 255 TO ADDRESS A CONDITION INVOLVING THE ENGINE VALVE SPRING(S). Hyundai leased us a Palisade under this recall without informing us about the recall until after we had signed the lease paperwork. We were told there was a stop sale on the car when we went to pick it up the next day and we were not allowed to drive it off the lot. We have been without our car for over 9 weeks due to Hyundai not resolving this recall in a timely manner. No definitive update has been provided on when this recall will be resolved and when we will get our leased car.”
NHTSA complaint #11607066, filed 2024-08“I am filing a vehicle safety complaint regarding a 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy due to repeated safety-related mechanical failures and ongoing defects that create dangerous and unpredictable driving conditions. Since purchase in August 2024, the vehicle has experienced multiple serious issues, including steering rack problems causing sticking, resistance, abnormal noises, and inconsistent steering response while driving. …”
