“My 2024 Hyundai Palisade windshield cracked without any impact. It didnt break but we noticed the crack by chance and were alarmed to see a 10'' crack while there was no audible sound of any impact from any flying debris. There were no warning lamps, messages or there symptoms prior or post the crack. The cracked windshield hasn't been inspected by manufacturer, dealer.”
NHTSA complaint #11754315, filed 2026-08“While driving at highway speeds, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. No rocks/debris were found to have caused the sunroof to shatter and we were not manipulating the sunroof in any manner. Luckily, the manually operated internal sunroof cover was in place, or more shattered glass could have entered the two front seats which were occupied. We could have ingested shards of glass, been cut by flying glass, or shards could have entered our eyes, causing a major incident/accident. …”
NHTSA complaint #11675329, filed 2025-07“The panoramic roof glass on my 2024 Hyundai Palisade shattered unexpectedly while the vehicle was stationary or just beginning to move. I did not observe any object striking the vehicle, nor was the vehicle involved in a collision. The glass continued to fall into the passenger compartment, creating a potential safety hazard for occupants. The vehicle can still be operated; however, dust, water, and other debris can enter the vehicle through the damaged roof. There were no warning signs, unusual noises, cracks, or other symptoms prior to the failure. …”
NHTSA complaint #11764539, filed 2026-09“Driving down highway and heard a loud bang. We pulled over to inspect the car and nothing was found. We pulled back the sunroof shade and the sunroof was shattered.”
NHTSA complaint #11564003, filed 2024-01“Sunroof randomly shattered in closed position on highway. I have pictures that show the glass bowing outward toward the sky instead of bowing toward inside the car indicating a object did not hit my sunroof. I also have pictures and videos of the sunroof and moment leading to glass shattering also proving it was not caused by an object. It is a serious issue because my sunroof was closed and my family was in the car. It couldve caused serious injury to the eyes if the inside slide cover wasnt closed as well. Something has failed causing this and I dont wish serious injury on anyone. …”
