“I was driving home from work friday afternoon june 28th and shortly after I turned onto a small road to go home I heard a very loud noise coming from the rear of my vehicle. I was extremely scared to drive it the rest of the way home, but managed to make it home very slowly. The next day I took it to my local dealership and they had no clue what would be making this loud rattling/banging noise in the rear of my SUV. …”

“My Hyundai Tucson will stall each time the vehicle is driven steadily at highway speed for 20 miles or so. Getting back on surface streets it begins to suddenly downshift into 2nd or first when slowing or braking. Following this, the vehicle will stall if it gets slow enough or you come to a stop. I fear being rearended or left in a lane to restart with traffic bearing down. The internet has several instances of the same problem with no resolution from Hyundai. I add my information, in hope it will save someone and solve the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #10321421, filed 2010-03, 23,424 miles

“2006 Tucson 5-speed manual transmission SUV remains stuck in 3rd gear. Car parked and ignition turned off while gear still engaged results in this locked-up gear backlash problem. Work around: leave parking brake released. Lean on car bumper and push slightly to free the power train.”

NHTSA complaint #10336196, filed 2010-06, 5,000 miles

“While turning into my carport, my engine stalled. Right before I turned, I took my foot off the accelerator and the car hesitated and lurched forward. This could be a potentially dangerous problem if my car stalls on the road and some other driver rear ends me.”

NHTSA complaint #10438036, filed 2011-12

“The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Tucson. Within a month of purchasing the vehicle, the transmission failed with less than 1,000 miles. The dealer replaced the transmission. The hazard and turn signal lights failed also and were replaced by the dealer. Two days later, the lights stopped working again. They were replaced a second time, but then failed again. The lights have failed approximately six times and have not been properly repaired. The dealer informed the contact that he uses his directionals too much and the hazard lights too long. …”
