“As I was pulling into a parking space in a parking garage, the vehicle's engine revved, tires squealed and then the vehicle propelled forward on its own, without my foot being on the accelerator. The vehicle only stopped when it hit a support column and the wall of the parking structure. There was extensive damage to my vehicle and to the parking structure wall. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk due to the car accelerating on its own. …”
NHTSA complaint #11711003, filed 2026-01“Sitting at a red light the vehicle seemed to almost stalled then lunged forward about eight feet almost colliding with the vehicle in front of me. To my knowledge the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer nor has the problem been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. To my knowledge there were no warning lights, messages or symptoms. I am somewhat unfamiliar with this vehicle since I've only owned it for 5 days. I picked it up on 4-25-26.”
NHTSA complaint #11734716, filed 2026-04“This Hyundai Tucson was 3 months old when the transmission started to shudder and miss gears. I immediately took it in to Ken Garff Hyundai and the service advisor drove the car and said nothing is wrong with the car and that the transmission needs to break in and sent me on my way. The Tucson did it again while in traffic and the vehicle would not go and I had to put my hazard lights on and let the car struggle in changing gears to get it off the road. …”
NHTSA complaint #11571774, filed 2024-02“When pulling out of my driveway onto street, I lost acceleration. My vehicle would not go oer 35 mph and the RPMs were revving up too 5000 without speed moving. I tried changing the drive mode to fix it, that did not help. I pulled over,s topped the car and restarted and all seemed normal. This has happened 2 other times since I bought the car. The other 2 times was while i was on the interstate the engine stopped engaging and i could not accelerate. Both times the issue corrected itself by the time I could get safely out of traffic. …”
NHTSA complaint #11579684, filed 2024-03“I just bought the car, it was brand new off the lot. The check engine light came on followed by every emergency warning on my dash. After this my power steering failed, I was able to move over to the right lane a bit, but that’s it. I tried turning the car off at this point and turning it back on, but it would not turn back on. I could not even put on my emergency 4 way blinkers. The car would not even detect the key at this point. Thankfully we were on a small, low traffic road and not the freeway or a major accident would have been inevitable.”
