Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“There is a stress crack in the windshield. We noticed it in the month of september. The windshield has not been replaced and the crack came out of no where. It is completely smooth inside and out. The windshield replacement companies I have called usually say this is due to incorrect installation of a windshield.”

NHTSA complaint #11362278, filed 2020-10, 49,000 miles

“I was driving approximately 65mph east on interstate 10 in louisiana around mile marker 257.3 when the hood latch failed and my hood flew up, smashing my windshield and completely blocking my field of view. There were no cars around me as it was 4:30 am and I was able to safely pull off to the side of the highway. It appears that both the primary and secondary hood latches have failed, causing the hood to fly open.”

NHTSA complaint #10860551, filed 2016-04, 3,950 miles

“In the past six months, three of the four window regulators on my 2016 Hyundai Tucson stopped working. Recently, one of my windows fell out while driving on the highway. Looks like this is a manufacturing defect as hundreds of complaints have been reported on the internet. The vehicle needs to be recalled as this seems to be a common problem in most 2016 Tucsons and poses significant risks while driving, especially on highways at high speeds. …”

NHTSA complaint #11513263, filed 2023-03

“Both my front window (driver and passenger side) regulator and motor failed and needed to be replaced within the past 6 months. With both windows, I lowered and then they wouldn't close. Two separate occasions. First was December 2022, and second was July 2023. This is an expensive repair and for a vehicle with only 50,000 miles, I find this unacceptable. I have read multiple complaints for this same issue. Hyundai needs to make this right and reimburse for repair(s). Thank you, Barbara Miller”

NHTSA complaint #11537426, filed 2023-08

“The automatic windows broke in all 4 windows and I am unable to roll down my windows in the case of an emergency. The dealer confirmed this is an issue. This is a known issue on the 2016 Tucson.”
