“I have taken this vehicle to be looked at at the Jeep dealership it was purchased from and at a local body shop. Both places claim there is nothing wrong with it, but every time we drive it on the highway and try to pick up speed, it stalls. There have been a few times when I am trying to pass someone and I begin to accelerate and my Jeep will not increase speed and stalls as well. I have to put my foot all the way down on the gas pedal to get it semi moving. …”
NHTSA complaint #11258900, filed 2019-09, 50,000 miles“I seen on the internet there was a recall on my Jeep make and model for catalytic converter problems...I just had to spend a little over $4,000 in repairs because my vehicle caught on fire. When I got it to my insurance they couldn't find anything wrong but wouldn't start. When I took to garage they found that both my catalytic converters had disintegrated from the inside out and I had to replace both among other things. Is there any way I can get compensated? I have had it back from garage for few weeks and now am having problems with it starting.”
NHTSA complaint #11407166, filed 2021-04, 167,592 miles“I was driving on the service road about to enter onto a major highway and my Jeep had three caution lights pop up on the dashboard. Next thing I know my rpms were all over (limp mode) and my cars power started to stall. I had to pull over and was in a really bad spot that had no shoulder. I restarted the vehicle and the check engine light was lit. I was able to drive it into a parking lot. This was quite a scary situation and had me fearing for my safety. I looked up this problem and seems like quite an occurence. …”
NHTSA complaint #11191360, filed 2019-03, 53,000 miles“2015 Jeep Compass latitude 4x4 with a 2.4l engine and automatic transmission. The vehicle only has 80,000 miles on it. About a week ago we were driving down the road in our neighborhood when the car went into limp mode, no power to the wheels and the enging started chugging. Came to a complete stop and the RPM's were at 1500 at idle. Check engine light, throttle control light, ABS, and traction control light turned on. I shut off the engine and waited a couple seconds and turned it back on. All the lights turned off and the vehicle seemed fine. …”
NHTSA complaint #11286513, filed 2019-12, 80,400 miles“My vehicle has been stalling as of the last week. Less than 36,000 miles. It happens at a complete stop or driving down the road. I was entering the flow of traffic making a left hand turn from a complete stop and my car stalled in the middle of the road. I had to pull over and restart my car. I brought it to my local dealer where this was purchased as they had previously told me there was a recall for the same issue and needed a software update. But when they ran my VIN they told me they made a mistake. This is a real safety issue!!! …”
