“My husband and I buy two jeeps. The reason I choose mine and he choose his, was fuel economy. But the Jeep Compass is not performing at all to the standards. I did contact customer service and they were very nice setting an appointment for the Compass to have a check and see what was wrong. Please find attached the results of the check-up. As you can see in the report from the mechanics, not even the car lies in regards to this situation clearly says that only does 13.5 miles per gallon. The advertising also attached says an average of 25 mpg 22 mpg on city and 31 mpg on highway. …”

NHTSA complaint #11407113, filed 2021-04, 500 miles

“Vin not existing. This vehicle is listed for $1 a dealer incentive of $29,...... I asked to purchase an make delivery. Is there any reason VIN not found. Is this a real car.?”

NHTSA complaint #11363399, filed 2020-10, 30,000 miles

“I have replaced both batteries and the alternator. The stop/start light comes on and the red warning to pull over safely the vehicle will shut off soon and the engine light comes on. The vehicle is now telling me to service transmission. The dealer doesn't know what's wrong with it. I want this taken care of.”

NHTSA complaint #11640564, filed 2025-02

“Rear ended decelerating someone and the car went up in flames then blew up. We are not sure why this happened or what failed for this to happen. Had I not gotten out to check on the other vehicle I could have been seriously injured or worse and this has been looked at by our insurance company.”

NHTSA complaint #11526378, filed 2023-06

“This first occurred on 3/10/2026 and then occurred again on 3/15/2026. When driving the coolant temp warning will randomly come on. This causes the car to lock up. After about 30-60 seconds it goes back to normal. This could very dangerous if I were on the interstate that I take every day to work. I am a mechanic, have hooked it up to a computer and there are no codes. I have tried to research it a learned that it is a consistent issue that seems to be common in the Jeep Compass, going back as far as the 2019 model.”
